#16 : Hiding His Word In My Heart – Week 2

Hiding His Word in my heart – Week 2

Happy Sunday!

In our previous blog #14 we shared about our new memory initiative called #HidingHisWordinmyheart. The idea is that across the 7 weeks from Easter Sunday to Pentecost we want to purposefully memorise scripture together. So, each Sunday, we are sending out a new Scripture and resources to help us recall and remember.

Before introducing this week’s Scripture, let’s reflect on last week. Week 1 saw us focus on Philippians 4 v 6-7 ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus’.
How did you get on memorising? A BIG well done for any effort in remembering God’s Word. We are cheering you on to keep going! Remember, this isn’t about perfection, or a competition to know the most scriptures, this is about allowing God’s word to take root in our lives and change us.

This week’s (week 2) scripture is Jeremiah 29:11-13, which speaks of the plans and purposes God has for your life as you walk with Him and seek Him.

As promised, we’ve provided cue cards to print out at home. There are 5 larger cue cards, which have gradually more blanks in them. This is to help you to test your memory as you move through the week. There is also a smaller pocket cue card, so you can take it with you wherever you go.

You can download the cue cards and pocket card A4 file here.

We don’t want to only memorise scripture but desire it to sink deeply into our hearts and change us.  So, what is God’s Word saying to you through this week’s verse? Think on the ‘doing’ words of the verses. How has this verse been important to you in the past? How can you apply its Truth?

We also gently challenge you to look up a few more Scriptures, which sit along side this week’s verse. Here’s some we’ve provided:

  • Romans 8:28 – ‘And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose’.
  • Psalm 37:23-24
  • Psalm 139:16
  • Ephesians 2:10
  • Philippians 1:6

These verses are rich with the promises that God has over your life. We pray they would sink deeply into your heart and mind.

We would love to hear how you’re getting on! Why not do this alongside others and practice together.

May God bless you as you purposefully dwell on His word and allow the Holy
Spirit to write it on your heart. Enjoy the journey! We’ll be memorising right alongside you!

P.S: Because we like looking at other translations, here is the Amplified version of our verse for this week!
